I can see!!

December 21st, 2008 at 10:28 pm

I went to Lasik surgery yesterday. The procedure itself only took about 15 minutes (or less). It was a lot more easier than I expected, and I have 20/20 vision now.

AMAZING!!

I haven't been able to see this well without any glasses or contact lenses for more than 30 years. It was worth the money for sure.

I don't know why but the Lasik center gave me an extra discount, and the final bill was $3,228. Kind of random discount on top of 15% discount from my vision provider. Of course, 'm not complaining!! Better than original estimation of $4,000.

Like I wrote before, I have some fund in my FSA account and DH's vision insurance will pay me $500. So, final out of pocket will be only about $500. Not too bad.

Glad it went smoothly and successfully but I'm with gamecock43. No unnecessary surgery for me on my eyes or any other body parts. Too many possible things that could go wrong.

I was in the same opinion as Disneysteve before. But, some of my close friends did it and it seemed so easy. And, it WAS easy!!

Also, I like to swim but always had to worry about my contact lenses whenever I was in the water. When my friend in Hawaii told me she will take me to the spot I can swim with sea turtles, I made up my mind. I want my vision back!!

    I'm glad I did.

    Nika,
Good luck! It only take few minutes. Really.

Congratulations! I had lasik almost 6 years ago. It is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Glad you had an easy surgery and great results. Enjoy swimming with turtles!

Nika - I hope your surgery goes well. I was nervous too, as I had once nearly passed out after my eye doctor did that glaucoma test. The surgery was not bad and extremely fast. DBF was watching from outside and said it took less than 10 minutes from the time they started on the first eye until they were done with the second. I was seeing 20/15 the next day and still am today.

OMGosh, I love turtles. We have very large turtles in our canals here in Michigan. Anyways, I would love to get Lasik, if it would work for me and I wasn't such a chicken. Maybe someday.

I want to do this so bad but terribly scared! I am deaf and do not want to lose anymore of my senses.

At the same time, I hate waking up in the middle of the night not hearing and seeing at the same time and would love to not worry about contacts. I do not wear glasses often as there is war going on the back of my ears while wearing both the hearing devices and the glasses resulting in horrible blisters.

Yeah, I just don't mind my glasses - hehe.

But I am glad it went well and you treated yourself. Congrats!
