Landline cancelled....

December 28th, 2011 at 06:09 pm

I called a phone company and cancelled our landline.

We all have cell phones and hardly use our landline. For some strange reason, maybe it is called a peace of mind, I've been procrastinating to cancel it. But I finally did it.

We were paying about $30 per month, so this is about $360 savings per year.

We are taking the plunge too.....this weekend after our new FIOS internet is installed....I will be calling Comcast to cancel phone, internet, and cable (we had DISH reinstalled) It is kind of a scary feeling but I hate wasting money since we (like many) hardly ever use the landline in this day and age of cellphones.

    PNW Mom,
Scary feeling is the word for me too. But like you said, we're wasting money because we hardly use it. I keep telling myself, it is not the end of the world.

I have known a lot of people who are doing the same thing. We are living in SE Europe at the moment and there are a ton of people who have multiple mobile phones and no land line, for various reasons. This leads to savings, as you mentioned, and as long as you recharge your phone you usually will have pretty good reliability in-town. Nice to save over $300 per year on something you weren't using much anyway!
