Egg price went up again

March 3rd, 2008 at 07:51 pm

I stopped by Trader Joe's on Saturday to pick up my usual.

Bananas, 19 cents per pound.
Fuji apples 49 cents each.
Sourdough bread $1.89 a loaf.
And a dozen of eggs...... I saw the price and skipped. The price of eggs has gone up AGAIN! It used to be 99 cents for a dozen of eggs not so long ago. Then, it went up to $1.19, to $1.69, and now it's $1.89. I know I'm talking about very small amount of money, but all of you know how quickly these 80 cents here and there add up. I decided to buy eggs at Longs Drug this time because their eggs are still $1.49 for a dozen. I need to go there to pick up new rebate book anyway.

Grocery prices are definitely going up as gas price goes up. Do you feel grocery price increase, too?

$5.75 for 3 dozen eggs here. Not too long ago it was $4.25...

I have a couple of items that have been skyrocketing. I have a feeling that very soon I will have to adjust my budget to take the rises into account.

I buy the Omega-3 eggs at Costco, UEP certified happy chickens. 18 for $2.55.

We did have a laying hen for several years as a pet from the time YD was 7 to when about 15 years. We ate her eggs when we could find them, but she liked to hide them and lay on them attempting to hatch them. It was really quite sad.... We miss Flower.

also at my work, (i work at a bakery) egg prices have gone up a lot over the past year. as you can imagine, we use a lot of eggs, and of course, the cheapest, and we buy in bulk. i think they work out to be around 21c each. which is a lot when you think about it.

Everything is up, I buy my eggs at Sam wholesale because it is much less than the grocery store. I think for the large ones, 18ct they were a little more than $2
But grapes are outrageous and I love them but not for $6 a pound

Grapes were 99 cents a pound at Winco and $1.49 a pound at Safeway this weekend in California. Prices really vary around the country.

This past week, grapes were .99 a pound everywhere where I live. Maybe they will go on sale where you live, too.

I only buy grapes when they are less than $1.50 per lb. Save Mart also had grapes for .99 per lb last week, so I bought some. I cannot imagine paying $6 per lb!! That's a lot.

Well, this is an international effect, but the thing that matters is the standard of living... If you live in a well developed country, you will never feel the raise, but if you live on th edge you will probably have to give up some aliments soon so prepare...
